Delphina Kay Baresel Johnston left this mortal life on the 4th day of March 2020 at the age of 73. She was the wife of a member of the United States Army and spent time in Europe, primarily Italy, during his service. She is survived by two children from that marriage, Dana Edward Miller and Diannea Kathryn Miller Johnston-Comstock, both of whom reside in Louisville, Kentucky. As a single mother of two, Delphina pursued her dream of becoming a nurse, overcoming all obstructions. She attended various colleges in Texas and worked in medical facilities there to become a Registered Nurse. Delphina served as a Registered Nurse for over 45 years until she retired in 2017. Delphina worked as a mobile nurse in such diverse locations as Alaska during the construction of the pipeline and a hospital that served Native Americans in rural Arizona. She performed duties in the Jewish Hospital, Rudd Heart and Lung Center during the development of the artificial heart and provided home health care through the Mercy Health Care System in Oklahoma City. Her diverse background allowed her to provide medical care to people in an unparalleled manner. There is no way to list all the people that she took into her homes and heart to help during trying times in their lives.
She was preceded in death by several beloved fur children. She is survived by four--Thor, Annie, Mittens and the King. During her last days, her brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Judith Baresel, provided hope, comfort and care. On a daily basis, her friend, Angela Harrell and her mother, Kathy Schira, as well as Marvin Stucks, a friend of Aubrey's, provided selfless comfort and care to Delphina as her end drew near. Friends and family completing the circle of life. She will be missed by her husband, Larry Baresel and her stepson, Aubrey Kyle Baresel who she has known and who knew her for over 30 years. As the Poet Khalil Gibran wrote: "And ever has it been known that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation."
