Obituary

Delbert Calvin Carman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was born on October 3, 1928, to Gerald and Clara Carman in Mooreland, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 15, 2024, at the age of 96.

Delbert proudly served our country in the Armed Forces of the United States, from February, 1951 to February, 1953 where he was Corporal in 17th Field Artillery Battalion Battery "A." He received the Korean Service Meal with two Bronze Service Stars, and United Nations Service Medal. After being discharged, Delbert moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico to work for the Santa Fe railroad. There he met his beloved Colleen. They were married and started their grand adventure. Shortly after marriage they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where Delbert earned his masters of engineering degree from Oklahoma State University.

Delbert worked as a Civil Engineer, assistant director and retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. He decided to start an engineering consulting business and finally retired at the age of 93.

Delbert cherished time spent with family and friends as well as traveling, golfing, attending parties and dances. He enjoyed visiting with his Friday morning breakfast buddies, The Romeos (Retired Old Men Eating Out), and of course watching TV sports. Delbert and Colleen traveled the world and stepped foot on every continent. The grandkids would ask him which country have you "not" been to. They actually went to 37 countries including the north and south poles.

Delbert was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Servant and was active in numerous groups, including the Young Men's Group and Church of the Servant "Living Room" Group.

Delbert was preceded in death by his daughter, Caroleen Carman; his brothers, Duane Carman and Lowell Carman; and his sister, Roberta Lancaster. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Carman; his son, Blain Carman and wife, Taffy; his two grandchildren and their spouses, Micah and Saul Hernandez, and Sarah and Peter Fecht; his great-grandchildren, Ava and Emma Hernandez; as well as friends who will miss him deeply.
