Deborah Sue McKay Bowen crossed over to Glory Feb 10th, 2011. Debbie was born July 15th, 1957 to Dorothy and Dennis McKay in Denver, CO. Debbie was an Advertising and Promotions Manager for several businesses in OKC before beginning a career in Civic Service in 1990 for the City of The Village. After retiring from full time work at The Village due to health concerns, she later found a way to continue service by being elected to the Village City Council, serving 3 terms and serving as Mayor in 2003/04 the first Woman so honored. She was a member of the Oklahoma Conference of Mayors, Served on The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) Legislative Committee, and the Friends of The Village Library Board. Debbie was an amazing Christian and had a heart very much like her Heavenly Father. She was always loving, always forgiving, and always thinking of others first. She loved her church family at Village Baptist Church where singing in the Choir and directing the Special Education Dept. were her passions in serving God. She had the heart of a Teacher, and she managed to teach something to everyone she came to know, including her committee of Doctors! Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Faye Arment, of Colo.Springs. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, James Bowen. Also by three shining lights in her life, her son Nicholas Bowen and grandsons Parker and Hunter Bowen. She is also survived by her father Dennis McKay and Mom2 Claudine McKay of Meridian, Idaho, brother Dennis McKay and family, of Westminster CO, sister Denise Jackson and family of Lingle, WY. Also by bonus brothers Tom and Sean McKay and their families, of Henderson NV. Services are Tues., Feb 15th, at 1:00 PM at The Village Baptist Church, 10600 N. May, with interment at Harrah Memory Lane Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Celiac Sprue Associations AACSA Foundation (csaceliacs.org), The American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
