David (Dave) Florian Mostek went home to his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015. David was born to Helen and Floyd Mostek on February 9, l943, in Temple, Texas. When he was an infant, his parents moved to Omaha, Nebraska. David was a big brother to one sister and two brothers. Dave graduated from Benson High School in 1961, and went on to Creighton University for two years. He enlisted with the Naval Reserves in 1961, and he went on active duty in 1963. He served in the US Navy until 1967. Dave served on the USS Eldorado during the Vietnam War. After serving overseas, he came home to marry the love of his life, Carolyn Hensley, on November 7, 1964. They immediately moved to San Diego, California. They had two children, Christopher of Oklahoma City, OK, and Becky Houston of Andover, MA. Dave loved learning and was the first in his immediate family to graduate from college. Dave got his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Long Beach State University. After working in the business world for many years, he decided to go into the ministry. He received his Master's Degree in Arts and Biblical Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. He also completed all the course work except for his dissertation for a PHD in Church Administration from Covenant Theological Seminary. Dave was a nationally certified church administrator. He was blessed to pastor churches in St. Louis, MO; Texhoma, Oklahoma; and Central Point, Oregon. He also served as church administrator at Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany, OK. At the time of his death, Dave was a member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed helping in the Get Real Class and coordinating Hot Topics. He also enjoyed public speaking and won a state contest in Toastmasters. Dave loved watching football, reading, bike riding, and going out with family and friends. He especially enjoyed studying the Bible. What he loved the most was his family. He was not much for saying the words, but they meant everything to him. He was often caught bragging about something his family members were doing. He loved teasing his grandchildren and often referred to the fun he had at his "Papa Camp". Dave is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Keela Mostek; his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and David Houston; and four grandchildren, Chloe and Ethan Mostek and Parker and Piper Houston. He leaves behind a sister, Pat Homan, and a brother, Dennis Mostek, and a host of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Helen Mostek, and a younger brother, Thomas Mostek. Dave enjoyed life and teasing those he loved. His humor and smile will be greatly missed.
