David Edwin Loomis, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather went to meet both the Lord and his bride of 75 years, Ula Loomis, on September 11, 2009 surrounded by family and loved ones. David, born on December 9, 1909, was raised on a farm in Hannibal, Missouri and lived most of his adult life in Dallas and Oklahoma City. David graduated from Hannibal La Grange College in 1930, entered a career in marketing and sales and retired from Sears in 1975. He married Ula, his true love, September 30, 1933. Their lifelong romance will always inspire both family and friends. David and Ula were charter members of the Central Church of the Nazarene in Tulsa, OK and after moving to Oklahoma City, they became devoted members at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. David was always faithfully active in church activities, sang in the choir, and served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher. David lived his life always serving the Lord and prayed every morning for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. David loved to play the saxophone, drive cars, build furniture and fix everything he could around the house. He also loved writing poems and always had a homemade card ready for every special occasion. David lived a full life while giving generously to his church and family, especially his grandchildren. David was predeceased by his wife Ula, his parents Harry and Clara Loomis, brother Charles, and son James Loomis. He is survived by daughter Sarah Mincey; son-in-law Bill Mincey; daughter-in-law Linda Loomis; granddaughters Brittany McCoy and husband Scott, Brooke Oliver and husband Ran, Stacie Mills and husband Greg, and Sherry Loomis; grandson Bill Mincey, Jr. and wife Lauren; and great-grandsons. We will cherish memories of his warm smile, funny stories, and miss his uplifting spirit. Viewing will be Sunday, September 13, Noon-9pm, with the family greeting visitors from 5-6pm at Mercer-Adams. Funeral services will be Monday, September 14, 1:00 pm at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene, Chapel in the Round, followed by interment in Resurrection Cemetery.
