David Allen Lane departed in the early morning of February 27, 2023. He was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on August 17th, 1948, to JB and Cynthia Lane. He married Peggy Lou Lushbough on July 14th, 1972, in Gainesville, Texas. He retired from Mr. Rooter, as a plumber, after many years. David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps where he served two tours in Vietnam and received 3 purple hearts and several other honorable metals. After the Marines, he then served in the Army and National Guard separately where he and Peggy were stationed in Germany for 4 years. David enjoyed camping, fishing, and sitting on his porch feeding the birds and squirrels. He loved the holidays, cookouts, and spending time with his family. He always told his daughters they were his heart and soul and his greatest achievements. In his last days, he told Peggy he was glad they had their girls because he loved them so much. He was a very devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. With his gentle, loving personality, he made friends everywhere he went. His moto was, "if youre not early, then youre late!" Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Peggy Lane; daughters, Emily Schmid and husband Glenn, Julie Perry and husband Floyd; 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. David was the oldest of three boys. Doug and Terry Lane remain with us along with his nieces and nephews.
