David T. Howells, 91, passed away August 30, 2014 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born December 29, 1922, the son of David Thomas and Florence Mary (Coates) Howells. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and received a purple heart from wounds received during the Battle of the Bulge. David retired from Western Electric (Lucent) after 44 years. On July 13, 1946, he married Sophie Walinskas in Chicago, IL and they moved to Oklahoma City in 1959. David was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie, and son, David Jr. Survivors include daughter, Christy Borelli, OKC; son, Richard Howells, Edmond; sister, LaVerne Collins and husband Donald, OKC; grandchildren, Crystal Borelli, Tiffany Borelli-Urken and husband Ross, Brittany Borelli, Sarah Howells, Richie Howells, Theresa Epperly and husband Grady, Renee Garnand and husband Joe; and 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to his family, David loved his faithful dogs, Chin and ZaZu. David was a member of the American Legion and the Pioneers. He lived his life as a devout Catholic. This loving and humorous man will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to attend a prayer vigil on Thursday, September 4, at 5:30 p.m with visitation directly following from 6-8 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury. A mass of celebration will on Friday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church in OKC.
