David "Allen" Harber, Sr., 87, passed away September 23, 2023. He was born January 27, 1936 to Willam Q. and Beulah (Weatherford) Harber in Monroe, OK. He married Lanora "Fran" Scroggins on August 14, 1961 and they had 4 wonderful children.
Allen was a firefighter for 21 years, retiring as Major in 1991. He attended Tulakes Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing dominoes, card games and traveling around the country. He could fix just about anything.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, William Q. Harber and Beulah L. Weatherford; brothers, Delbert, L.Z., Thurman and Chester; sister, Gennet; and wife of 6 years, Frances Marie Stevens.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Fran; daughters, Sherry Harber, Susan (Gary) Brown, Saundra "Sonnie" (David) Winfree; and son, David (Carol) Harber. In addition, he was "Papa" to his 9 grandchildren, Sam, Sara, Michael, Tammi, Tyler, Derek, Dayton, Lora and April; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and anyone else who called him "Papa."
Allens family was his greatest joy and he loved them all very much. He will be greatly missed.
Viewing at Mercer-Adams will be Tuesday from 12-8pm with family present from 5-7pm. Celebration of his Life will be at 10:00am on Wednesday, September 27 at Mercer-Adams Chapel. Interment will be in Monroe Cemetery on Thursday, September 28 at 1:00pm.
