Darla Jean (Wilson) Burns, 72, went to be with the Lord on September 05, 2009. She died peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer. Darla was born to Henry and Lois Wilson on September 22, 1936 in Utica, OK. She married Jason Burns on July 3, 1960. Darla graduated from Blue High School (1954) and Southeastern State College (1957). She taught high school in Yearington, NV then moved to OKC to begin civilian work with the US Coast Guard. She completed her Masters degree at OSU and was employed by the FAA as an Education Specialist. Darla retired May 2008 after 47 years of service with the Federal Government. She was a long-time member of Council Road Baptist Church, active in choir and Bible Fellowship. She loved shopping, traveling and visiting her four granddaughters in Broken Arrow, OK. Preceded in death by her husband, she is survived by her son, Greg (Judith), Newbury Park, CA; daughter, Michelle Brown, Broken Arrow, OK; brothers Charles and William Wilson, Durant, OK; sisters Mamie (Bert) Weger, Colbert, OK and Judy Sliger, Yukon, OK; grandchildren Arielle, Ashley, Sydney and Reagan Brown, Broken Arrow, OK; and many aunts, uncles & cousins and a host of friends. Memorials may be made to Council Road Baptist Church Music Ministry, 2900 N. Council Road, Bethany, OK 73008. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, OK. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 10 at Council Road Baptist Church, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
