Obituary

Danny Lee Case, 63, passed away September 17, 2015 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born November 16, 1951, to Owen Clark Case and Elizabeth (Betty) McCarty Case. A natural athlete, he played baseball, basketball and football for Jones High School. He was selected for the Oklahoma All-State football team, starting in both the Oklahoma All-State game and the Oil Bowl, played against the Texas All-State team. Dan attended Oklahoma State University, majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Broadcast Journalism. He graduated with honors in 1974. He worked for Halliburton in Duncan and then moved to Oklahoma City, taking a position with Roadway Freight. He then moved to Consolidated Freightways in the sales department and also worked for Holmes Freight Lines as sales manager. He returned to Consolidated Freightways as Senior Sales Representative where he was named to the President's Circle for outstanding achievements. He had worked in the trucking industry for 25 years when, in 2002, he took the position of Executive Director of the Oklahoma Trucking Association. During his 13 years there, he was awarded membership in the American Trucking Association's President's Club and was recently given the prestigious TEAC Chairman's Award of Excellence. He undertook raising funds to build a permanent home for the OTA and was able to do this without having any debt. Dan's love for horses as a boy continued throughout his life as he became involved with the thoroughbred industry. No one was more excited to see his horse in the winner's circle! He served as the President of the Oklahoma Thoroughbred Association for several years. In 2003, Dan married his wife, Barbra. They shared a love for travel across the US and had many adventures. They spent many wonderful times in Santa Fe, Ruidoso, Taos and various less traveled locations in New Mexico. Dan was preceded in death by an infant son and his mother, Elizabeth. He is survived by his wife, Barbra; son, Travis; father, Owen Clark; and brother, Ken and his wife Janet. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Crossroads Hospice for their outstanding care and the staff of Laura Lynn's Home care for their compassionate care for Dan. His caregivers, Porfie and Brenda, were amazing and we are grateful to have known them. A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00am at Church of the Servant, 14646 N. MacArthur. Memorials may be made to the Oklahoma Thoroughbred Retirement Program and the Bella Foundation. Memorial Service Saturday, October 3, 2015 11:00 AM Church of the Servant 14343 N.
