Obituary

Daniel Lee (D.L.) Spencer, 81, was born July 28, 1936 and was delivered by a midwife in a tent in an oil camp near Snomac, OK, in Seminole County. D.L. was the third of four children born to Ollie Lee and Jewell Laura (Lee) Spencer. He went to be with the Lord on July 3, 2018. The Spencer family settled in Konawa, OK, and D.L. attended Konawa schools through eighth grade. In 1951, they relocated west of Edmond, OK, putting them in the Deer Creek School district, where D.L. completed ninth through twelfth grade. He graduated in 1954. D.L. married the love of his life, Shirley June Johnston, a year later on June 4, 1955. They just celebrated 63 years together. In 2001, D.L. retired from Sysco Foods with over 45 years of experience in the food service sales industry. He was a Christian man who ordered his life according to biblical principles. D.L. and Shirley were longtime members of Council Road Baptist Church. D.L. is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marie Lewis; one brother, Charles Spencer; and a beloved great-grandson, Blake Daniel Howard. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; only child, Brenda Howard and husband, Randy; two grandsons, Danny Howard and Derek Howard (Nicole); seven great-grandchildren; Beau Howard, Valerie Howard, Victoria Howard, Bella Howard, Violet Howard, Ryan Martin and Katelynn Martin; and one brother, D. Dewayne Spencer (Shirley G.). Numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends grieve his passing. A memorial service for Daniel Lee Spencer is scheduled for 2:00pm, Saturday, July 7 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Chase Buchanan officiating.
