Obituary

Growing up, Dan never knew his father. His mother, Deloy, with the help of his grandmother, raised him. Dans grandmother was a huge influence in his life and he adored her. She encouraged him to take up the clarinet and join the high school band. His mother died a week before his high school graduation. At the time, his Aunt Kathlene took him in and paid for him to go to business school. While in business school, he met a girl and was engaged to be married. However, as luck would have it, one night he and a friend pulled into Hollies Drive-In downtown and saw two girls standing outside. One of those girls was Carolyn Liddeke. It was love at first sight. He broke off his engagement with "banana nose" which was the name that Carolyn would call her for many years to come. For 32 years they enjoyed life together. They frequented OU games, flea markets, and antique stores. It didnt bother him at all to be one of the only men at "The Affair of the Heart." At 6 foot 1, you could easily spot him among the sea of women. Together they created a beautiful, warm, and loving home to raise three happy daughters. The eldest daughter, Kristen, married to Mark Latham, middle daughter, Cami, married to Aaron Sprague, and youngest daughter, Deanna, married to Rob McCullar. Dan was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Allison, age 31, Nathan, age 21, Emma, age 19, and Wyatt, age 13. Dan and Carolyn remained best friends until her untimely death at age 52. Before Carolyns death, they spent the last of their seven years together doting over their only grandchild at the time, Allison. Dan worked his way up from file clerk at Local Federal to Vice President of Bank of America at the Waterford location. Along the way, he worked at many different banks and people loved him at all of them. He was fun to work with, but was always very loyal and professional. Dan continued to work in banking until his retirement at age 70. Since then, he has lived here in Oklahoma City with his good friend, Michael, and his dogs.
