Obituary

Dale Vance Rolander (Papa) was born on February 10, 1930 in La Junta, Colorado to Carl and Juanita Rolander. Dale passed from this life on Monday, December 16, 2019 at the age of 89. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He lived a full, good life and will be greatly missed for his loving smile, his tender heart, and his gentle ways. He never met a stranger nor a person who did not like him at first sight. He was admired by many for his kindness and good nature. He will be remembered by family, friends, and patrons with much love and great admiration. Dale was raised in La Junta, Colorado where he graduated from La Junta High School. During his years in Colorado he served in the Army National Guard, was a Deputy Sheriff, a voluntary fireman and owned a neighborhood grocery store. He later moved to Oklahoma to be closer to his daughter, who he deeply cherished. During the last 50 plus years of his life, he moved to Oklahoma City where he started his own window cleaning business, which he dedicated his life to. Being a faithful, steadfast, and well-liked businessman, he enlarged his small business to not only include all of Oklahoma City but all the surrounding areas. He loved his work and became so skillful at his craft that many patrons referred to him as Mr. Squeegee. Dale would take the time to joke and talk to his patrons. He loved to make people smile. A man of great faith, he was a member of Northwest Christian Church where he married Judith (Hooper) Rolander on November 10, 2006. Dale was the "light of her life" and together they shared many happy moments and a lifetime of happy memories with family and friends. He enjoyed playing board games, dominoes, and cards; which he and his wife shared every evening before retiring. On weekends he would watch an occasional football game or a National Geographic program on TV. Dale enjoyed sitting out on his back deck, coffee in hand, playing with his dogs, Tug, Charlie Brown, and R Dog. He would feed the birds and squirrels. Dale loved animals. He donated to The Humane Society. He was fascinated with history and would visit historical sites and museums. Dale enjoyed going to the zoo and attending air and automobile shows. Dale was a devoted husband, father, step-father, step-uncle, grandfather, step-grandfather, and step-great-grandfather. He was delighted when he became a foster parent because he deeply loved children. He would take the time to play and listen to them. All children loved papa. He is survived by his wife, Judith; four step-children, Toney Goodwin, Don Filippo, Gina Willoughby, and Keri Gray-Stewart; grandson, Joe Eldon; son-in-law, Ron Hallman; brother-in-law, Danny Huffman; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Juanita Crawford; eight step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and a host of step nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; his daughter, Karen Hallman; and his step-son, James Carpenter. This world now holds one less twinkle without him in it. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Humane Society, St. Judes Childrens Hospital, or Shriners Hospitals for children.
