Dale Deon Hunter, age 69, passed from this life to his heavenly home on May 9, 2019 at the Oklahoma Veterans Center in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was born on November 5, 1949 to Gene C. Hunter and Gloridene (Clifft) Hunter. He graduated from Arnett High School in May, 1968. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, with an honorable discharge after serving from August, 1973 to July, 1976. Deon worked at Tinker Air Force Base for a time after his military service and then became a truck driver. He retired due to illness after 36 years of driving with various companies. In his spare time, Deon loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed being with family, especially his 6 nieces who adored him.
In February of 1991, Deon and Susan first met in Napa, CA. They soon became fast friends, enjoying a courtship by phone and planned meetings. Since they were both truckers, meetings had to be planned in advance. On December 31, 1991, Deon and Susan were married in a little Nazarene Church in Taloga, OK by Deons cousin. They enjoyed 27 years of marriage, sometimes driving separately and sometimes together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene C. Hunter and Gloridene Hunter, his maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 27 years, Susan, his brother, Leon Hunter and wife, Marilyn, his sister, Carolyn (Hunter) Reed and husband Barry, sister, Angela (Hunter) Linnell and husband James and brother, Mike Hunter and life partner, Bonnie, 6 nieces, Gayla (Hunter) Pounds and husband Tim, Staci (Hunter) Sperry and husband, Kyle, Amy (Hunter) Morey and husband, Michael, Mistie (Reed) Dunn and husband, Gene, Christie (Reed) Carlisle and husband, Clayton and Samantha (Reed) Schasteen and husband, Kyle, 11 great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Deon will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we rest in the assurance that we will meet again in heaven.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, May 18, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel.
