Obituary

Rev. D. Edward Williams, 91, entered heaven on September 5, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born September 7, 1931 in Dunbar, West Virginia, the son of Donald Edward and Leola (Casto) Williams. He married the love of his life, Donna Marie Buby on June 14, 1952 in San Diego, CA. After his wife, Donna, passed away on March 3, 2015, God brought another godly woman into his life. He married Eula Mae Neuenschwander on March 21, 2020. The great reward of his life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Edward Williams, III; and sister, Donna Lou (Williams) Carter. Survivors include his wife, Eula Mae Williams of Oklahoma City; children, Deborah Marie Loyd and husband Danny of Bethany, OK, Michael Joseph Williams and wife Karen of Yukon, OK, Mark Edward Williams and wife Dawn of Bethany, OK, and James Nelson Williams and wife Cindi of Bethany, OK; stepchildren, Denise Fitch of Oklahoma City and Paul Marvin Stipe and wife Sandy of Rockwall, TX; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Ed served his country during the Korean War as a Machinist mate/crewman on the first helicopter rescue squadron in the Navy. His helicopter was named The Last Chance Taxi. If they found a downed pilot they would never leave him behind. His mission was dangerous as he flew over the 38th Parallel, taking enemy fire many times. Upon the completion of his military service, Ed began his career working for the San Diego Sheriffs Department. After a short time in the Department, he found a job working for the San Diego Coca Cola Bottling Company. He excelled in his career with Coca Cola, finally leading the Sales Management team for San Diego county. Ed also worked in Public Relations for Coca Cola, overseeing their Football and Golf program. He would frequently work with Hall of Fame coaches Don Coryell and John Madden. He was offered the General Managers role at the El Centro Coca Cola Bottling Plant, but turned that down to pursue the passion of his life. In 1972, Ed moved his family to Colorado Springs, CO to attend Nazarene Bible College. After college, he moved his family to Mineral Wells, TX to become the Senior Pastor of Mineral Wells Church of the Nazarene. After spending time in his first pastorate, he moved to Arlington, TX to pastor East Park Church of the Nazarene. He then moved to Rialto, CA to pastor Rialto Church of the Nazarene, followed by a move to Bethany, OK where he was called to pastor Canadian Hills Church of the Nazarene. After this, Ed felt led to pursue full-time evangelism. While focusing on evangelism he was asked to lead the childrens ministry at Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene with his wife, Donna. They were deeply loved and made an incredible impact among the children and their families. Ed then moved to Midland, TX to become Associate Pastor of Midland First Church of the Nazarene, partnering with his son, Jim. He made a huge impact wherever he served and his influence is still felt today. Eds family wishes to thank the caregivers at Traditions Hospice. We are deeply grateful for your ministry to Dad.
