Obituary

David Norman Easter passed from this life on June 30th, 2014 at the age of 78. He was born February 23, 1936 in Dora, Missouri to Dave and Nora (Epley) Easter. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Sullivan, Missouri. He played basketball and won many ribbons showing horses, as well as being active in many other school activities. Norman dedicated his life to preaching the gospel of our Lord. He started preaching at the early age of 13 in Sullivan, Missouri and preached his first gospel meeting at the age of 14 in Rosebud, Missouri. In the 7th grade, Lois Ellen Emily moved to Sullivan and he was smitten for life. They were married in St. Louis, Missouri at the West End Church of Christ on July 19, 1952 and would have been married 62 years in a few more days. He served as a chaplain at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri while serving the church in Dixon, Missouri. In the following years, Norman and Lois were blessed with three children; Chrys, Norm and Kim. He served churches in Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas. He preached gospel meetings all over the United States and did mission work in Russia, Siberia, and the Ukraine. In all locations he taught and baptized many. He retired from full-time ministry after sixty-one years, but continued to fill in at the pulpit and teach classes as needed. Norman had a passion for fixing things; as it turn out, especially clocks. Together with Lois, they opened a clock shop and Norman became, The Clock Doc. In no time, his reputation spread and clocks were coming in from hundreds of miles away. They worked side by side until he became ill. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Nora Easter, and one granddaughter, Andrea Ellen Mardis. He is survived by his wife, Lois Ellen (Emily) Easter of the home. He is survived by three children; Chrys Watson and her husband Gary of Leedey, OK, Norm Easter and his wife Denise of Edmond, OK, and Kim Mardis of Oklahoma City, OK; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren to whom he was fondly known as Pappaw; one brother, Eddie Joe Easter of Florence, TX; as well as nieces and nephews, many friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
