Cora Lou Stasser (Lou) was born August 6, 1922 near the Sherman-Cheyenne county line in Kansas and departed this life to meet her Lord and Savior on April 18, 2011 in Oklahoma City, OK. The youngest child of James Norman and Edna (Barnard) Rockwell, she spent all but the final few years of her life in northwest Kansas. On October 4, 1939, at the age of 17, she married Marvin Stasser and they spent over 63 wonderful years together, until parted by his death in 2003. Lou was a dedicated wife and mother, lavishing her love and talents on both her immediate and extended family. She was a fabulous cook, a meticulous seamstress, an immaculate housekeeper, an enterprising problem-solver, and a generous neighbor. As an expression of their deep and abiding faith, Lou and Marvin invested themselves for many decades in the building of Gods kingdom through the Goodland Church of the Nazarene. Following Marvins death in 2003, Lou moved to Oklahoma City to be nearer family. No matter where she was, she devoted herself to the well-being of her family, her church, and her community. Lou was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents Jim and Edna Rockwell, and three older siblings: Vera, Olive, and Merle (Tom). She is survived by daughter Dorothy, of Oklahoma City, son Garold (Gary) and wife Susanne, of Hamilton, Ohio, sisters-in-law Muriel Rockwell, of Denver, Colorado, and Irene Cook of Jacksonville, Florida, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at Mercer-Adams. Family visitation will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., concluded by a short prayer service at 8:00 conducted by the Rev. Judy Cox for any who would like to join in celebrating Lous legacy. Services will be held at the Goodland, Kansas Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, April 23, with viewing from 9-10 a.m. and funeral service at 10:30. Interment in the Goodland Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Lous memory to the American Cancer Society, to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, or to the benevolence fund of the Goodland Church of the Nazarene. All contributions may be sent to Mercer-Adams for forwarding to the designated charity.
