Colette Foster, of Oklahoma City, 90, passed away with her family by her side, on Sunday April 13, 2014 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City. She was born Helen Colette Birdwell November 28, 1923, in Tipton, OK to John and Charlcye Birdwell. She graduated from High School in Neosho, MO and attended what is now University of Central Oklahoma. In the late 1950's she began a long career in the apparel business working first as a buyer and store manager for Gibson's and TG&Y in Missouri and Oklahoma. In the 1970's she became a sales representative for clothing manufacturers and traveled the Southwest and Midwest. Colette had her own showroom at the Dallas Apparel Market for many years. Colette attended the Putnam City United Methodist Church and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 50 years; she loved entertaining her family, friends and sorority sisters. She was an accomplished artist, with awards to her credit. Colette was a patient, kind and loving mother and beloved by her children and grandchildren, she had a smile for everyone she met. In addition to Oklahoma City, she also lived in Neosho, MO and Farmersville, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D Foster and son, John Carol Whitman, both of Oklahoma City and brother, Robert Birdwell of Sallisaw, OK. Colette is survived by her daughter, Jan Macy and her partner, Tom Barnes; son, Mike Macy, of Oklahoma City and son, Joe Macy and his wife Mary of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her brother, Dee Birdwell and his wife Roberta of Troy, IL and sister in law, Betty Birdwell of Sallisaw, OK. Others surviving in the Oklahoma City area include grandson, Hunter Macy, granddaughter, Monica Whitman and great-grandson, Jeremy Whitman. Also surviving is granddaughter, Amanda Hichkad and her husband Tejan of Bel Air, MD, and great-grandsons, Grayson, Cooper and Brody Hichkad. Special thanks to RN's Shelly, Sherry and Vickie at Integris Hospice House for the loving care given to Colette during her stay at their facility and to Alex Castro, DTP at Mercy Hospital. The kindness and devotion you displayed is a credit to your professions. Viewing will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014; the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Mercer Adams Funeral Home, 3925 N Asbury, Bethany, OK. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Mercer Adams. Graveside service will follow at 4:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 59, 2 miles S. of Neosho, MO.
