Obituary

Cody Oscar Young went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Cody was born September 16, 1981 in Oklahoma City, OK to Ron and Paula Young. Cody attended Banner School through 8th grade and went on to graduate in 2000 from Southwest Covenant Schools. Cody was known for his kind heart, his amazing courage and his ability to persevere throughout his life. "Codeman" as he was known by many, will be greatly missed.

At six years old, Cody was diagnosed with an Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM), a rare disorder located in the brain stem area. This condition caused a life of hardship for Cody, but his resilient mindset to always find the good in life was an inspiration to others.

Cody lived at home with his parents until 2020 when he went to reside in a nursing home.

Cody loved his family and friends, OU football, deer hunting in November with family, playing cards with friends, his fantasy football, movies, Thunder games, fishing, his bird dogs when younger, collecting autographs, and of course his cigars. In the 10th grade, he was honored with the Award for "Courage". This was a very fitting award for him as it took courage to live the life God had given him. Another special memory for Cody and the family was the standing ovation he received at his high school graduation.

Cody attended Camp Sunrise for many years – a camp for brain injured adults – and really looked forward to it every spring. It was a fun weekend, full of many activities he could enjoy. He attended Covenant Community Church and was active in the youth group through middle school and high school. Cody continued to "Fight the good fight and kept the Faith" throughout his life and has finished his race.

With his family surrounding him at his bedside, Cody peacefully left this earthly world and walked again into the kingdom for an eternity with his Heavenly Father. His broken body is whole, his struggle over, his chains are gone, he is set FREE. Cody's legacy of kindness, courage, perseverance, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will forever be missed but never forgotten by those who love him.

Cody is survived by his parents, Ron and Paula Young; brother, Royce and wife Keri; two nephews, Harrison and Everett; brother, Chism and wife Alia; and many other family members and dear friends. Cody was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; uncles; and his niece, Eva Grace.
