Obituary

God needed a great trombone player so He called Clyde home to be in His orchestra on Sunday morning March 13, 2016. Clyde was born June 9, 1933 in Reading, PA. to Clyde L. Miller Sr. and Florence Ann Miller. When Clyde was 8 years old he was told he would be a good trombone player so he began lessons in school with Mr. Jack Charelli. When he was young he got to play his trombone on the Children's Radio Hour in Reading, PA. Clyde's family moved to Casper, WY when he was 14 years old. He continued his music enjoyment playing in the High School band, and Casper City Orchestra. He also worked for the Casper Tribune printing and throwing papers until graduation from HS. He earned a music scholarship but gave that up to join the Navy. During Clyde's Navy career, 1952 to 1956, he was in radio communications, serving on 14 ships. He met his wife, Claudine in San Diego, CA on May 14, 1955 and they married Dec. 18, 1955 in OKC recently celebrating their 60th anniversary with family and friends. After serving in the Navy Clyde earned a BA in Electronics Engineering from OCU while working for Sears. He then worked for FAA until his retirement, Clyde was heavily involved in Camp Fire Girls in the 70's with his daughter Karen, and in the Boy Scouts with his son Randy even serving as the Pack Master of Pack 176 at Coronado Heights Elem. After retirement he began a ministry of playing his trombone in nursing homes, and at banquets all over the country. He was featured on KOKH 25 "Tell Me Something Good" and at the age of 80 played the National Anthem before a Redhawks game. He played in the Oklahoma Baptist Symphony, Friends Band, and in the Village Baptist Church Orchestra. His greatest reward was when he played at nursing homes and the people would sing along or even dance. He ended every program with Jesus Loves Me. Clyde served as the Leisure Adult program director for 13 years at VBC. Clyde is survived by his Wife Claudine, children Karen (Richard) Flesher, Randy (Janice) Miller and grandchildren David (Caitlyn) Flesher, Kayla (Ben) Ramsey, Kevin, Kyle, Katie and Keith Miller of OKC.
