Clive A. Cadle of Bethany, Oklahoma (85) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and family on January 28th after a brief courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Clive was born in Oxford, England on August 13, 1936 to Richard and Gladys Cadle. At the age of 14, he began an apprenticeship as a tool maker at the local auto factory and earned the nickname "the Mighty Atom". This apprenticeship led him to his lifes work in the auto industry and eventually brought him to the United States. There he used those skills working for Western Electric, and spent 25 years with General Motors before retiring.
In 1957, Clive entered Her Majesties Service and was suited to the Royal Engineers. His service in the army took him all over the world including Bahrain, Cyprus, Aden, and one of his favorite spots, Kenya.
Clive met his soulmate and the love of his life, Beryl Hicks in 1957 at the Battle of Flowers parade in Jersey, an island off of France. It was the beginning of a lifelong love story that most only dream about. They were married March 5, 1960 and this year they would have celebrated 62 years of love and devotion to each other.
Clive is preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Ralph. Clive is survived by his beautiful bride, Beryl and their four children; Colin (Janice), Sharon Hogan (Dave), Lesley Pallutch (Chris) and Keith (Stacie). Clive also was loved and adored by his 6 grandchildren; Crystal Cooper, Nic Cadle, Blair Thomas, Cooper Cadle, Ryan Pallutch and Carly Faith Cadle. He was also Poppa to his 8 great-grandkids; Tyler Cooper, Kaitlyn Cooper, Rylan Cadle, Brooklyn Cooper, Hunter Thomas, Willow Thomas, Connelly Cadle, and Colt Cadle. He also leaves behind many extended family and close friends in England and all over the world.
Clive had many interests and hobbies over the years. His love for photography allowed him to be the company photographer while serving in the army and that passion continued throughout his life and travels. He also loved sailing and spent many years as a member of the Oklahoma Sailing Club. One of his other interests for many years was soccer and he was even a state referee during the 70s. Most of Clives friends were amazed by the exotic animals he and Beryl raised throughout the years including a bush baby, honey bears, many tropical birds. Archie his beloved parrot is almost 45 years old and will miss his person dearly. Astronomy was more than just a hobby, it was something that Clive and Beryl spent years enjoying with lifetime friends. They traveled to Machu Picchu in 1986 to see Halleys Comet, and a trip to Egypt in 2004 allowed them to see a transit of Venus across the sun. With telescopes bigger than some cars, Clive and Beryl have traveled to see many Solar eclipses. One of their claims to fame was being published in Scientific America magazine.
