Obituary

Cliff Emert was born August 28, 1920 at his Grandparents Homestead in the Little Axe community east of Norman and passed away September 12, 2010 at his home in Heritage Assisted Living with his loving wife Stella at his side. He was the eldest of five children born to Walter and Pansy Emert. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elvin. He is survived by his wife Stella; two sisters, Margie Rush (husband Russell), Betty Spurlock (husband Bill); and brother, Bill Emert (wife Barbara), all of the Oklahoma City area. He is also survived by three sons: Ken Emert (wife Judy) of Phoenix, AZ, Don Emert (wife Susan) of Pensacola, FL, and Dr. Richard Emert (wife Dawn) of Evans, GA. He has seven grandchildren: Kirk Emert (Reno, NV), Jennifer Walsh (Phoenix, AZ), Kyle Emert (Denver, CO), Jeremy Emert (Florence, SC), Jonathan Emert (Denver, CO), Jamie Emert (Savannah, GA), and Charles Emert (Evans, GA). He has five great-grandchildren: Madison and Jordan Walsh of Phoenix AZ, and Olivia, Jude and Lincoln Emert of Florence, SC. He was proud of his Indian Heritage and a tribal member of the Potawatomi Nation in Shawnee. He graduated from Bethany High School in 1938 and also attended the University of Oklahoma and San Francisco College. Cliff and Stella have lived in many places during their many years together (Oklahoma, California, Nebraska, Iowa, Texas, and Louisiana). They came back to their homeland in Oklahoma after his retirement from Monroe Calculators. He was active at Putnam City Baptist Church until his health began to decline. Cliff and Stella were active in the Lay Witness ministry while living in Louisiana serving in churches throughout the south. Memorial Services will be Thursday, September 16, 11:00 a.m. at Mercer-Adams Chapel, Bethany, Oklahoma.
