Alvin "Mac" McConnell borrowed a horse to bring a doctor across snowy roads to aid his wife Lillie with a premature birth in an oil field "camp" known as Cox City. The tiny baby was named Clema Oleeta and she lived eighty-six years, bearing two sons, seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. Clema was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. Broughton and brother, Alvin McConnell, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Bill and Sam Broughton, sister, Clara Seitter, and many family members. Though she lived most of her life in Oklahoma, Clema will be missed by friends around the world. For many years, she prayed for and corresponded with missionaries, at first with pen and paper, but later with typewriter and then email machine. At eighty years of age, she learned to use an iPad bought for her by her grandchildren for letters and video communication. Clema is remembered for her ready smile and friendly laughter by many Christians in small Oklahoma Baptist churches she served as a pastor's wife. A devout believer, she enjoyed teaching children in various church organizations, leading women's missionary groups, and providing piano music for worship services. Viewing will be on Sunday, June 8, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service. A memorial service to praise the Lord for His work in Clema's life will be held on Monday, June 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the Baptist Village Retirement Center in OKC. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Foster Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children or The Academy of Classical Christian Studies. The family is especially thankful for the loving care given to Clema by Entrusted Hearts, Dr. Karen Ross, and Dr. Mark Godish.
