Obituary

Clarence Edward McElvany, 90, died peacefully on July 4, 2015. He was born December 2, 1924 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Dewey Dalton and Georgia Mae (Quinn) McElvany. He was a proud Navy Air Corp veteran who served his country during World War II. In 1947 he married Evelyn Jane in Oklahoma City, OK where they raised a family and were lifelong business partners. Clarence owned Mayfair Heights Cleaners for 40 years. He took pride in maintaining great relationships with his customers and everyone he met. Clarence was a member of Kelham Baptist church where he loved to sing and was actively involved with his choir quartet. He enjoyed riding motorcycles throughout his life and loved listening to Gospel music. He has always been a dedicated and hard worker even at a young age he would search the neighborhood streets for hangers and bottle caps to cash in, just so he could go to the movies and buy popcorn. Clarence always had a smile on his face and took joy in getting together with his family and friends for the holidays. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include Evelyn Jane McElvany; son Steve McElvany; daughter Eddy Jane McElvany; Brother, Billy McElvany and wife Bernice; Sister, Morine Garred; grand-daughter, Sarah Jane McElvany; and nephew, Craig McElvany. He will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends. Viewing will be Wednesday from 9am to 9pm with family present from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Kelham Baptist Church, 3400 N. Meridian Ave., OKC, OK with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Clarence McElvany to Kelham Baptist Church.
