To live is Christ, and to die is gain. Chris Perrine ("Big Chris") stepped into glory with his Saviour on October 14th, 2016. Chris has finished the race. Chris has kept the faith.
Big Chris was born on October 6th, 1975 in Oklahoma City, OK. His early years were marked by challenges as he spent his formative years in the foster care system. Even in those circumstances, Chris saw the good and the bad for what they were. These years were a part of his life, but it did not define his life.
Big Chris lived up to his nameand not because he was a "big teddy bear," although he was. Big Chris was larger than life. Big Chris had a magnetic personality. Big Chris captivated the room. Big Chris had Passion!
Yes, he had the regular passions such as Sooner Football, Thunder basketball, music, and ruining a good walk by playing golf, but more than that, Big Chris was passionate about things that were lasting.
Big Chris was passionate about his family. His 20-year love-of-his-life Christina, with whom he shared a birthday, was his passion. His artistic, creative, and musical first daughter Kayla was his passion. His committed and athletic second daughter Lilli was his passion.
More than anything, Jesus was his passion. His lifes mission was to point his family to Jesus on a daily basis. His lifes calling was to point his students to Jesus. If you were a student in Big Chriss student ministry, you were one of his.
His testimony is tantamount to Pauls in that his life after Christ was dramatically different than it was before. Big Chris was the walking embodiment that through Christ, we are new creations.
If, by chance, you are reading this or listening to this, and dont know Christ as your Saviour, Big Chris would want his legacy to be that even in death, he pointed to Jesus. Big Chris saw his Saviour because he trusted in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. We invite you to do the same.
The family rests in the hope of the gospel, and claims the words of Jesus that even though they mourn, they will be comforted.
Big Chris leaves behind family, because to Big Chris, you were family.
