Charlotte Marie Matthews, 71, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, December 26th, 2021. She was born on July 2nd, 1950 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Fonzie Miller and Lila Jane Miller. Charlotte was a devoted mother, friend, teacher, and animal lover. She worked as a special education teacher in Edmond for 25 years.
Charlotte was a strong woman of faith. Her devotion to her family and community was inspired and driven from her commitment to her Lord Jesus Christ. She rarely met a stranger. Though she had three children of her own, she was "mom" to many. She attended Crossings Community Church and participated in Bible Studies and groups with the intent of ministering to others. She was active in ministries that focused on mentoring incarcerated women. She taught childbirth classes and cared for mother in the last years of her life. Service was her lifelong mission.
Even with a service-focused life, Charlotte never missed an opportunity to laugh and have a good time. Her laugh was joyous. She enjoyed shopping trips with her high school friends and Casino trips with her mother and children and she was always a winner. She absolutely loved spending the holidays with her children and grandchildren. She could always be found at her childrens activities and having sleepovers with her grandkids.
She is survived by her children, Holly Bailey and her husband Bruce, Michael Matthews and his wife Sarah and Matt Matthews and his wife Emily. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Miller and her grandchildren, Brittany and Kylie Bailey, Luke and Abbey Matthews, and Will and Dru Matthews.
