Charlotte Sue Bellah, 74, of Oklahoma City Oklahoma peacefully and quickly ran into the arms of Jesus on March 17th, 2021. I can imagine her second stop was smacking Jim for leaving her down here!
Charlotte was born June 1st, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She married Jim (also known as JAMES ROBERT when he was in trouble) on June 26th, 1969. Five short years later in 1974, they introduced their one and only child, Gregory Dean, to the world.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her parents, Herman & Nettie Lou Doss.
Charlotte graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1964. She started her lifelong career in the optical field in 1967 as a receptionist at Eye Clinic Optical quickly moving to fitting glasses and contacts as a licensed Optician. She retired from Oklahoma City Clinic in 2016 after twenty years. During that time, she managed the Optical Shop, assisted Dr. John Bell and other Ophthalmologists in the clinic, and took great care of many long-time customers and patients.
Charlotte was known by her brothers as "Bossy Big Sis" for which there are many stories! As a child, she was taught to be afraid of the water. Jim decided to change all that in her late thirties and introduce her to the adventures of Scuba Diving through mutual Trinity friends. After a few tries, she finally succeeded at passing her basic swimming test then on to becoming a card-carrying certified Scuba Diver. She loved to write short stories both fictional and non-fictional. Greg remembers going with her as a young boy to meet the OKC Police Chief MT Berry when she was writing a story about Chop Shops. She took classes and made life-long friends in the writing community.
Shortly before Greg was born in 1974, Charlotte and Jim joined Trinity Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. She was a member of Trinity until her passing. Throughout that span of 47 years, she was fully involved and engaged in the life & membership of Trinity. She sang in the choir, even climbing almost to the top of the Living Christmas Tree for Christmas productions! Charlotte taught kids and youth Sunday School pouring into the lives of many, many kids. She was the Sword Drill expert often taking Trinity kids and winning competitions with other churches. She loved music and organized a series of Trinitys concerts named Gospel Sing involving others from different churches across the metro area. Charlotte saw many changes at Trinity including being an esteemed member of the "Dirty Thirty" that knew God still had more in store for the corner of 23rd & Classen who faithfully stayed, prayed, and fasted knowing God was going to do big things. She was a key part of the revival and revitalization of Trinity. Even though she wasnt as spry and physically active at Trinity in the last few years, she was tremendously blessed to see the fruition and growth in Trinity Kids, writing many letters and supporting the staff however she was asked. She loved the family of Trinity until her last breath.
Charlotte is survived by her son, Greg & wife Jennifer; grandson, Kyle & wife Amber; granddaughter, Allyson, & her husband Riley; brother, Carl Doss & wife Linda; and brother, Don Doss & wife Jennifer.
