Obituary

PHIPPS Charles Eugene, 88, died December 19, 2008. He was born in Gould, OK on September 15, 1920. He attended OU and graduated from Baylor Dental School. Dr. Phipps served in the US Army, Navy and US Marine Corps during WW II. He was a proud Mason and a life long member of the Crestwood Baptist Church. Charles married Doris Elizabeth Brooks, August 9, 1947, and together they celebrated the birth of their 3 loving sons. Charles and Doris were passionate about providing a temporary home for young children each summer from the Baptist Childrens Home while raising their own. He lived a closely connected life with all his brothers, their wives and all of his nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to him as Uncle Doc. Over 50+ years each of his patients became a personal and life long friend. Dear to him were his loving neighbors, his association with the people of Sportsmens Country Club, his friends in NOAH (Not Old At Heart) at Crestwood Baptist Church and his love for those close to him in the Oklahoma Dental Association. C.E, Charlie, Uncle Doc and PaPa as he was lovingly referred to by friends and family, was preceded in death by his parents T.H. and Sarah Elizabeth Phipps, 4 brothers, Joe B., Dr. T.H. Jr., C.V. (Pink) and Elmer Lee (Bill), his wife, Doris Elizabeth, and 2 of his sons, Ronald Gene and David Lee Phipps. He is survived by his son Don and wife Cheryl, and his grandson Johnathan B. Phipps. Charlie was adored by his surviving sister-in-law, Esta Marie Phipps, along with those who cherished their Uncle Doc, his nieces, Sally and Peggy Phipps, his nephews, J.B., Phillip, Jack T. Phipps, and Gary Nance, and all of his great nieces and great nephews, Megan, Mara, Margaeux, Jennifer, Townsend, Blaine, Travis, Troy and Jonathan C. Phipps. Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N Asbury, Bethany, OK
