Charles "Chick" Andrew Lung, 75, of Oklahoma City, died July 26, 2015 while on a trip to Phoenix, AZ. Born in Alton, IL, to Margaret Goldsborough and Kenneth Lung, he was raised in Camden, IL and Rushville, IL. An avid basketball player, he was part of his eighth grade team that went to Illinois State's "Little Sweet 16 Tournament" in 1955. He switched to football in high school playing all four years on the Rushville Rockets team. After high school graduation, he served four years in the U.S. Navy as a dental technician. In 1961, he married his childhood sweetheart, Joyce Abbott, and was then assigned to sea duty in Hawaii for two years. Upon mustering out of the Navy in 1963, he and Joyce moved to Phoenix, AZ where their two oldest children were born. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1969 with a degree in finance. After graduation, he secured a position with Chrysler Credit Corporation. In 1971, he was transferred to Lubbock, TX. He was a member of Toastmasters for several years, improving his speaking abilities and winning several speech contests. Charles and Joyce were team bowlers for fifteen years, winning a league championship one year. Charles started playing golf as a teenager and continued the rest of his life. He took up running at age 38 and participated in many races and several marathons. He was a coin collector most of his life, an interest he shared with his brother, Tim Lung. He loved his nightly bowl of popcorn, his springtime walks in the woods collecting Morel mushrooms, and returning to Rushville in the fall to make apple butter with the family. He was proud of his 1966 red Mustang that he drove to shows and kept in pristine condition. His most recent avocation was writing. After retiring in 2005, he began writing books that he claimed had been running through his mind all of his life. He authored a total of 14 books of fiction covering many subjects. Charles was a serious follower and investor in the stock market. He was an avid fan of OU football and traveling. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family to several countries in Europe, Africa (where he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro), China and various states in the U.S. Charles and Joyce celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary June 18, 2015, six weeks before his death.
