Obituary

"Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly it burned." A Celebration of Life memorial will be held on September 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Castle Falls Grande Hall located at 820 N. MacArthur, Oklahoma City, OK. (Dress code: Chadism style=Casual (concert tees, game day apparel, shorts) Joe "Chad" Green was born into life on September 23, 1960 in Ardmore, Oklahoma and died August 1, 2020 after a hell of a fight. He was raised in Norman Town where he is remembered for his big smile and never a frown. He graduated in 1978 and in 1982 he put on his UPS Browns. He met Tamara Wilson in 1993 on a blind date and it was fate. In October of 1995, he made her his wife and the love of his life. It was meant to be that the Greens were to be a family of three and God blessed them with Joe Saxon Green. Chad and his mini me were thick as thieves and in 2002, Sally Dog joined to make them a gang of three. OU football was sacred and the Pittsburg Steelers were the team. Water gun fights, pitching hours of ball, riding in the "cussing" truck and listening to music as there is too many to name it all. Homeroom father, coaching little league, Trick or Treating on cold Halloween nights and taking the time to listen to his kids plights. Head strong and just alike, sometimes Mom had to break up a fight. Chad a/k/a "Batman" continued his career with UPS, retired his cape at "55 and out" at Big Brown in 2015. The same year he sent Saxon off to college and said "Hey Babee, get naked, its just you and me." Life with its ups and downs, thru a curve ball in 2017 when he was hit with the cancer merry go around. He put on his battle crown and the family of three waged war against the pancreatic beast and vowed that the disease would not beat them down. F-bombs, tears, beers and occasionally a sip of "Crown" as Chad set up his battle ground. Chad loved and lived life to the fullest each day and relied on his faith to keep the disease at bay but told Tamara and Saxon in recent months that he was ready for Jesus and no more pain. From a boy to a man, Chad was Saxons biggest fan. In his final days, Saxon told his father "Dad, you did it just right and we will follow Gods plan." The family decision was made but not without his funny words and final lyrical say of "I love you all and remember you cant always get what you want but if you try sometimes, well you might find you get what you need and the beer is on me." Chad loved his family, friends, music, OU football, Pittsburg Steelers, all his dogs including the one called "Red"; he asked that everyone celebrate his life as there was not a person he did not like. He will be remembered for his ability to create his own unique relationship with all people he would meet, eclectic music collection, connoisseur of concerts, encyclopedia of sports knowledge, coordination of the "perfect" outfit, fastidiousness to organization and detail and how he always ended a sentence with "Exactly!" but most of all his infamous humor and laugh. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Joe Leslie Green and Johnny King, his beloved "Lay Down Sally" Dog and is survived by his wife, Tamara Wilson Green and son, Joe Saxon Green, his mother, Barbara King, his sister, Donna Davis and husband Dusty, brother-in-laws, Kevin Wilson and wife Cindy, Kameron Wilson and wife Regina, his nieces, Jodi, Taylor, Trista, Ashley, Samantha, Tiffany, Kallie and families, nephews, Chase and Jordan and families, innumerable other family including those from "another mother," friends, and his fur family, Pearl and Betsy Green. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) or the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma (regionalfoodbank.org).
