Obituary

Carolyn Ruth (Deans) Richburg passed from this life on Friday, April 3, 2020. She was 84 years of age. Carolyn was born to Henry Eugene Deans Sr. and Mary LaVania (Pryor) Deans on August 31, 1935 in Davenport, Oklahoma. She graduated in 1953 as the Class Valedictorian of Davenport High School. Carolyn would go on to marry Clarence Victor Richburg on June 8, 1968 at Faith Tabernacle Church in OKC. Together they enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Clarences death on June 29, 2018. Carolyn chose at a young age to make Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior. She would go on to live the rest of her life seeking to daily honor the Lord. Carolyn was employed in banking as a young lady; however, most of her life was spent as a homemaker. Carolyns life revolved around attending and volunteering at church and being a blessing to her husband, Clarence. One of the most interesting facts about Carolyns life is that her father was in the Oklahoma land run in 1889 as well as him being the first mayor of Davenport, Oklahoma. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Mildred (Mimi) Deans, Margaret Hilliard, Henry Eugene Deans Jr., Floyd Deans and Mary Curtis, and her nephew, Jerry Lynn Wright. Carolyn is survived by her nieces, Carolyn Jean Fontenoy of Clinton, Iowa and Janet Jurgensen of Osceola, Iowa; her nephews, Philip Curtis of Altoona, Iowa and Charles Deans of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Fran Smith; brothers-in-law, Russell Kilburn and Danny Richburg; and many great-nieces and nephews. A Private Funeral Service will be held for Carolyn at the Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, Oklahoma. Her body will be laid to rest at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
