Carolyn Rose Mohr was born in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Duane and Clara Combs on November 22, 1941. She graduated from Clinton High School, attended Southwestern State College, and received her bachelor's degree from Oklahoma College for Women, Chickasha. Her early career included elementary teaching in Lawton and Oklahoma City, and she retired as a Gifted and Talented teacher in Putnam City Schools. She assisted in the initiation of "Counterpoint," a fine arts summer camp for gifted students in Putnam City. Carolyn is survived by one daughter, Jenny Mohr and her husband Matt Parker and their children Anna & Will Parker, Houston, Texas; and one son, Patrick Mohr and his wife, Chizuru Matsumoto Mohr and their daughter Lilian Rose, Hong Kong. She is also survived by her brother, Tom Combs, his wife, Gwyn, and their children, Justin and Stephanie. Carolyn was a dedicated and creative educator with a passion for teaching gifted students. She co-authored two education-related books. Through her decades of teaching experience she touched the lives of hundreds of Oklahoma children. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, at 1:00 pm at Mercer Adams Funeral Home, Bethany, followed by graveside services at Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to the Children's Center, Bethany, OK or the Make A Wish Foundation.
