Heaven rejoices as Carolyn was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 15, 2017. Carolyn Marie was the youngest of three children born to Felix and Dorothy Jorski in Oklahoma City on September 23, 1935. She graduated from Classen High School, completed studies in a business school, and worked with her family in their business, J & R Equipment Company. Her joy in life was loving and raising her daughters, Leslie and Natalie and loving her grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan and Sydney.
Carolyns interest and love for native American culture inspired her own creative art as she worked with metals, leather, beads and feathers. Her home reflected her appreciation for cowboys and horses in all of its decor, with a custom southwestern painting that even included Luke, her faithful Lab.
Carolyn was the caregiver for her mother and her husband for a season. She had the ability to face difficulties with strength and grace, never complaining or showing self-pity, reminding friends and herself when overwhelmed with lifes troubles that "Its not about me!" She purposed to express her gratefulness for Gods love and care.
As Carolyn grew in her relationship with Jesus, her desire to help others know Him was expressed in a variety of ways. She helped develop a Prison discipleship ministry, met with hurting women in jail to point them to Jesus, filled backpacks for children in Mexico, organized a Missions Library, and was a quiet and consistent supporter of several missionaries. She learned to recognize Gods goodness in all things and in all people.
Carolyn had the gift of hospitality. She hosted missions dinners, missionary update meetings, Bible studies and the Truth Project in her home. As a senior adult, she returned to the university to complete her degree with the goal to teach English to international students. Doors opened for her to travel the world and build mentoring relationships with students in Peru, Costa Rica, Russia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Honduras, Nepal. Back home, she hosted English classes with international students in her home, and most recently led Bible Study Fellowship small groups for several years.
Carolyn took to heart and lived out the truths of Gods Word. She learned to accept life as it unfolded, and acknowledge that God is truly in control. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness, she resolved to make the most of each day for the next two years, investing truth and grace into the lives that touched hers.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Felix James Dorothy Jorski and her brother, Jim Jorski. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie and husband Jeff Johnson of Oklahoma City; daughter, Natalie and husband Wes Means of Harrah; grandchildren, Jacob Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Sydney Jenni; and brother, John Jorski.
