In her younger years, Carolyn enjoyed work and church involvement. She worked in business offices at St. Anthonys Hospital, Deaconess Hospital, and Bone and Joint Hospital before retiring due to health concerns.
Carolyn married Eugene Jourdan on February 12, 1987 and they enjoyed many years together before Eugene passed away in 2006. Carolyn was also preceded in death by her parents and three infant sons, Jerry Leo Smith and twins Shannon Shawn and Steven Scott Smith.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the Ranchwood Nursing Center staff and residents for their kindness, consideration, excellent care and friendship for Carolyn during the last years of her life and to Frontier Hospice for their kindness and compassion during her last days.
As Carolyns health declined, she knew she would see heaven soon and longed to be with her Savior where there would be no more physical ailments and her hearing would be perfect.
