Carolyn was born to James C. Young and Anna Lee (Dunavant) Young on August 9, 1938 in Jackson, TN. She was the first-born child of James and Anna, followed by James, Judy and Mary Jo. Their father passed away at a young age and their mother eventually married Claude Sparks. Together, Claude and Anna added Claudette and Theresa to the family. Carolyn married Edgar "Dewayne" Hood, August 31, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in OKC. They celebrated more than 50 years of marriage together. They had three sons, Mark, Mickey and Mike. Shortly after, Carolyn chose a career serving others as a nurse while raising three young boys. After retiring, she continued to volunteer her time with various organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne and their sons, Mickey and Mike Hood. She is survived by her son, Mark and his wife Sandra; brother, James Young and his wife Laurie, sister, Judy Thompson and her husband Bob, and sister, Theresa Pearson; grandchildren, Chad, Amanda and Christopher Hood. And her life-long friend, Goldie Walther. Faith, Family and Friends were the most important things to Carolyn. She often expressed how grateful she was to have had been blessed with so many kind and loving people in her life. Services will be held at 10am, Thursday, April 4th at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Warr Acres, Oklahoma. Burial immediately following at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City.
