Carolyn McCaull Fletcher Demaree Carolyn Roma McCaull Fletcher Demaree passed away peacefully and was welcomed home by her Lord on January 6, 2023, with her daughter by her side. She was born on May 5, 1928, in Osceola, Iowa, to William S. McCaull, Jr. and Roma F. (Weaver) McCaull. Carolyn was raised on the family farm in Garden Grove, Iowa. Carolyn dearly loved her Lord, her family, her church, and her friends. After graduating at the age of 16, she moved to Des Moines where she worked for Mr. E. T. Meredith, founder of the Meredith Publishing Company. She then attended Oklahoma A&M (Oklahoma State University) where she was a proud member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Alpha Omicron chapter. Carolyn was born and raised in Iowa, but she was proud to call Oklahoma home. Carolyn joined Putnam City Methodist Church in 1949, where she was an active member; helped start the Mothers Day Out program, worked in the church nursery, was church secretary, and served the college and higher education ministry. After taking time off to raise a family, she returned to college and graduated from Oklahoma City University earning five Degrees; two Masters, two Bachelors, and one Associate degree. While continuing her education she worked full time for OCU as the Director of University Calendar and Chapel Office. Carolyn was also selected by OCU to study at the United Nations, while there she celebrated New Years Eve in Times Square; traveled to the Holy Lands; went on a Reformation Heritage tour; coordinated weddings in the Bishop Angie Smith Chapel; became a regular Lyric season ticket holder; and coordinated First Lady Rosalyn Carters visit with the First Ladys staff and the Secret Service. Later, Carolyn served as Director of Public Education and Public Relations for the Oklahoma Dental Association and Foundation. Carolyn gave lovingly and tirelessly of her time and energy to her family, as well as numerous organizations. She was a ready, willing and able volunteer in countless organizations. Through her many volunteer activities, she made many cherished friends. She was a past member, officer or board member of the Greater Oklahoma City Alpha Delta Pi Sorority Alumnae; Greater Oklahoma City Alumnae Panhellenic Association President, Woman of the Year and Gavel Club member; OKC Republican Women, Honorary Lifetime Member; First Ladies of Oklahoma; Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge; Oklahoma Federal Credit Union, Board Member; Oklahoma Methodist Credit Union, Board Member; Public Relations Society of America; Women in Communications; American Association of University Women; International Association of Business Communicators; Ladies Music Club; Civic Music Association; Christian Womens Club; American Legion Auxiliary, Post 12; 4-H Leader; Oklahoma County Election Board poll worker. As a result of her tireless volunteer activities, Carolyn was recognized by KOCO/Channel 5 as a finalist for the Five Who Care Award. Carolyn had a lifelong love of learning, whether formal education, or workshops and seminars. You could find her at OUs Senior Class, Integris 3rd Age classes, Mercys Senior classes, or Williams Sonoma for cooking classes. Carolyn loved to travel and often said it was the best education! At the age of 79, Carolyn decided to enter the Oklahoma State Fair baking and cooking contests. Why Because she had never done that. She won many awards and made many new friends. Carolyn enjoyed winning, but that wasnt what motivated her. She enjoyed honing and expanding her baking skills. She won many Best of Show Rosettes and Medallions; Champion Cake Baker for Oklahoma; Pillsbury Pie Baking Champion; Karo Syrup Cookie Champion; and too many others to list. She loved the State Fair Competitions! Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Demaree; her parents; her siblings, Margaret Louise, John R. McCaull, William S. McCaull, III, and Jean Hassebrock; and Marvin Fletcher, the father of her children. Carolyn is survived by three children: Stanley Fletcher (Lynn), Marilyn Ryun (Kent), and Cheryl Fletcher; and her three wonderful grandchildren, Thomas Ryun (Janet), Megan Fletcher, and Matthew Fletcher. Carolyns family would like to thank Mercy Home Health (Yukon team of DiAnna, Kim, and Heidi) for being such a wonderful blessing in her life.
