Carol J. Meyer Lingreen of Bethany passed away peacefully on June 22, 2022. She was 78. She was proud to be an Okie from Muskogee, where she was born to Ed and Hazel Highfill. Carol graduated from Muskogee High School in 1961 where she was active in the Debate Club, Flag Team, and the Honor Society. She went on to get her B.A. in Education from OCU, and became an elementary school teacher in both Muskogee and Oklahoma City public schools. After raising a family, Carol went on to earn two masters degrees in Early Childhood Education from both UCO and OCU. She directed the Pre-K program at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Her dedication to teaching, and her belief that everyone has an equal right to education inspired her to become a team leader for Title I / School Support Programs at the Oklahoma State Department of Education. She later became a Federal Programs Coordinator for Putnam City Public Schools until she retired in January of 2011. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Todd Lingreen; parents, Roy "Ed" Highfill and Hazel Highfill; her brother, William Highfill; and her aunt, B.K. MacLachlan. She is survived by her daughter, Meredith Meyer and husband Brandon White; her son, Eric Meyer and wife Shizuka Meyer; and many cousins on the Highfill and Brisco sides of the family. Carol loved going to see musicals at Lyric Theatre, playing piano, and reading as many books as she could. She made an impression on her many students, friends, and everyone who worked with her throughout her career. She was a friend and mentor to many. Carol strongly believed that every person should have their basic needs met.
