Carol J. Coil (Redding), 75, passed away on June 24, 2017. She was born April 4, 1942. She grew up and lived in Sawyer, ND until her marriage to Mervel Coil on March 13, 1960. The couple lived in many different states before finally settling in Oklahoma.
Carol loved Jesus. She was a faithful servant gifted with many talents which she shared with anyone in need. She had a love for people that was the foundation for all her actions. She was a source of comfort to the many patients she cared for during her 30 plus years as a nurse.
Carol loved her husband. They met at church camp when Carol was 12 and Merv was 14. It wasnt until Merv was 19 that Carol became the focus of his affections. She did not make things easy for him due to an earlier encounter in which he helped himself to treats Carol had hidden for herself and her camp friends. But pursue her he did. She was eventually persuaded to give him another chance. The two enjoyed a 57-year partnership of love, encouragement, support and more than a few shenanigans.
Carol loved her family which included her children, grandchildren, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, in-laws and outlaws. Our lives were enriched by her generosity, kindness, love, and of course, her cooking. I wonder if she had any idea of her influence on each of us. She was the sun of our universe and we were all satellites revolving around her strength.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne F. and Edna R. Redding and brother, Daryl A. Redding. She is survived by husband, Mervel E. Coil; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra J. Coil-Pinsky and Richard Pinsky; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy E. and Trina Coil; grandchildren, Sara Coil, Madison Coil Walker, Abby Robb, Regan Coil, Conner Robb, Sawyer Coil, Matthew Robb, Connor A. MacPhee, Spencer C. MacPhee, Katrina D. MacPhee and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol loved her friends. She was always ready to get in the car and go. It didnt matter where because she was with her friends. She could also be depended on to offer a shoulder to lean on or a hand to hold when life got challenging. She, with her gentle heart, will be missed.
She lived a life that mattered. I think the first words she heard upon entering heaven were, "Well done good and faithful servant."
