Surrounded by family, Carol Sue Avants, 74, passed away after a brief illness on August 9th, 2010. Sue was born in Oklahoma City on May 2, 1936, to Sims and Mary Fowler. A beautiful baby, she became an even more beautiful girl, wife and mother, as well as a successful business woman in a career with the Journal Record and Kilpatrick Investments. She married Roy Monroe Avants in 1953. She will be missed always by her husband Roy; son Wes Avants; daughters Karen Lewis and Paula Grindstaff; her Fowler siblings Bob, Frank, Gene, John and Linda; plus many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sue attended Putnam City Schools for 12 years, marrying Roy, her childhood sweetheart, while still in school. They enjoyed camping, sailing and traveling with their kids in their early years. She and Roy were active in Oklahoma City real estate in the 1980s. Special thanks to the hospice ladies from Full Life Hospice and to Sharon Stiles for their loving support. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 12, 10:00 AM at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany. The family requests that memorials be made in Sues name to the MS Foundation, the Alzheimers Foundation, or charity of your choice.
