Byron Claud Mingledorff, 69, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2017. He was born in Lima, Peru on November 4, 1947 to Warren and Jean Mingledorff.
Byron spent most of his childhood living in Georgia and Ohio. Throughout high school and college he was very athletic and a fierce competitor, he loved playing baseball, football, tennis and was unbeatable in table tennis. He graduated from Bethany Nazarene College where he met the love of his life, Marva Holsing. They were married in Ipswich, South Dakota on December 30, 1971. Byron had various jobs including insurance sales, social work and owned a carpet cleaning business. He was active in church, was a gifted singer and sang in many quartets and choirs. He coached his girls in softball, and seldom missed a game. His greatest joy was watching, supporting, quietly cheering and often critiquing his children with all of their sports, including softball, soccer, basketball and football. He enjoyed cooking and cherished the family gatherings with all the rowdy grandchildren that he loved so dearly. He enjoyed playing cards and board games with his family and friends and was known as "the cheater" - always competitive.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Marva; his daughter, Dawn Gilliland and husband Avery, and their children Jack, Jaden and Judson; his daughter, Heather Mingledorff and fianc Phil Rodgers, and her children Taylor, Baylen and Braxton; his daughter, Amy Williams and husband Sean, and their children Beckham and Kinlee; his son, Shawn Mingledorff and wife Abbey, and newborn baby Hudsyn Layne; his father, H.
