Bruce Adkins, 79, passed away February 10, 2010. He was born October 31, 1930 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Rufus and Susie Yarberry Adkins. He was retired civil service from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. A member of Village Baptist Church, he was a published author of Christian fiction stories. He ran marathons, receiving many awards. He enjoyed being a volunteer driver for Provide A Ride the past 10 years. Preceded in death by his parents and grandson William Craton, he is survived by his loving wife Jeri Reagan Adkins; children Debbie Adkins, Dr. Vincent Adkins and Karen Adkins Lowery and their mother Jean Satterfield; grandchildren Kristine Lowery Stibich and Jacob Lowery; great-grandchildren Matthew, Nicholas, Kathleen, Sheila, Allison and Connor; and the joy of his life, their dog, Princess. Special thanks to the nursing staff at Oklahoma Heart Hospital for their care and kindness. Viewing will be Friday, February 12, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Saturday, February 13, 10:30 a.m. at Village Baptist Church Chapel with interment at 2:30 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery, Lawton, Oklahoma.
