Brenda Carol Gustin, 61, died March 30, 2013, after a fatal slip and fall in her backyard. She was born May 15, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Richard and Betty (Avey) Gustin. She was a longtime employee of IBM, and most recently a teacher's assistant at Francis Tuttle, a job she truly enjoyed. Brenda was a coveted employee. She held a Master's degree from the National College of Education in Chicago, IL and a Bachelor's degree from OSU in Stillwater. She was an education specialist with an emphasis in adult education. She loved working outdoors, caring for her prized gardens. Her backyard was a personal retreat. She built her own Koi pond, carrying the flagstone herself, piece by piece, to sculpt the space. Brenda was also an excellent cook. Family would always gather for Thanksgiving where Brenda cooked with ease, always presenting a delicious buffet. She kept an elegant house with everything well organized and labeled. Even her indoor plants thrived under her meticulous care, blooming when others couldn't get them to grow. Preceded in death by her parents, Brenda is survived by her sister, Debra Gustin-Tierce, brother-in-law, David Tierce, and numerous relatives and a host of friends. A cat lover, Brenda always had cats, and upon her passing left three ~ Phoebe, Missy and Eddie. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
