Bobby Dean Sloan, Sr., 75, went to be with his Lord after a lengthy illness on Feb. 12, 2009. He was born March 13, 1933 to Cort and Jessie (Jones) Sloan on the family farm just south of Mountain View, OK. He graduated from Sedan HS and attended Southwestern State College and Bethany Peniel (SNU). A US Army veteran, he worked for Santa Fe Trail Transportation 33 years, then Donco Carriers and Triangle Express before retiring. Bobby and Veronica traveled extensively within the U.S., Mexico, Canada and around the world doing mission projects. Bobby was a longtime member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cynthia Jolene Sloan; one son, Myron Thomas Tommy Sloan; one grandson, Benjiman Bangert; seven brothers Ed, Charles, Orville Hickey, Clyde Jiggs, Kenneth, and infant twins; two sisters Minta Moseley and Wanda Jo McAnaw. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Veronica; daughter Rhydonia Sloan; son Bobby, Jr. and his wife Pam; son Cortis and wife Bonnie (currently serving in Iraq); 5 grandsons; 5 granddaughters; 6 great-granddaughters; 4 great-grandsons; one sister Elese Steckman and husband Floyd, sister-in-law Dafna Sloan, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention. The family will receive visitors Sunday, Feb. 15, 6-9pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Monday, Feb. 16, 10:30am at Mercer-Adams Chapel with interment at 3:30pm, Carnegie Cemetery, Carnegie, OK.
