Bobby Lee "Bob" Read, 90, died April 19, 2017 in Mustang, OK. He was born March 12, 1927 in Hobart, OK to Frank and Pauline (Morgan) Read. He graduated from Mt. Park High School in Mt. Park, OK. Bob was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving in WWII, and later Korea, with Company C -245 Tank Battalion. He married Fran Parker, January 12, 1955 and they were married 61 years before her passing in 2016. Bob was also preceded by his brother, J.F. Read; sister, Ola Mae Hallman and her husband Robert; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Freeman. He worked at the Ft. Worth Stockyards from 1950-52 before returning to OKC where he worked on the OKC Stockyards for Frank Kite. Afterward, he worked for various livestock companies until taking over Brown Commission Company. He started Read Cattle Company in January of 1977 until April of 1989 when OKC West Livestock opened and he became part owner.
Survivors include his son, Gary Read and wife Jean of Mustang, OK; granddaughter, Carrie Cooper and husband Andy of Piedmont, OK, and her mother, Marilyn Bryant; sister, Carolyn Freeman of Ada, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be Friday, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Saturday, April 22, 10:00am at First Christian Church, OKC with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
