Bobby R. Jackson, Sr., born January 10, 1933 in Vamoosa, OK to Richard and Hortence Jackson, passed away July 3rd, 2023. He was a longtime resident of Bethany, OK and a member of First Baptist Church of Bethany. Bobby was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Jackson; his parents, Richard and Hortence Jackson; and his brother, Johnny Jackson. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jackson; children, Ramona Jackson, Bobby Jackson, Jr. and wife Kari, and Cynthia (Cindy) Jackson; sisters, Yvonne Robertson and husband Keith, and Jo Ann Sanders and husband David, and sister in law, Billie Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren, along with a vast number of caring family and friends. Bobby attended school in Vamoosa, OK, where he graduated from high school in 1951 with a class of 12. He also studied at East Central University in Ada and OSU Tech in Okmulgee. Bobby excelled as a pitcher in semi-pro baseball and even received a draft opportunity for a Chicago major league team but was drafted to serve in the Korean War. He was an aircraft hydraulic mechanic in the military and a jet engine mechanic at Rocketdyne in Neosho, MO, that built the Jupiter booster rockets that went to the moon. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and Air Force, including being stationed at Dhahran Air Base in Saudi Arabia and was able to visit the Holy Land. Bobby enjoyed sports and was an avid OU Sooners fan. He retired as a Safety Director and Production Assembly Supervisor at Little Giant Pump Co., OKC. Viewing will be Friday, July 14, 9am-8pm with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service in Bethany. Funeral services will be at 10am Saturday, July 15, First Baptist Church of Bethany with interment to follow at 2pm in Vamoosa Cemetery near Konawa, OK.
