Obituary

Bobbie Burbridge Lane was born on July 18, 1934 in Oklahoma City to Robert O. and Velma Jean Burbridge. She peacefully passed away on Mother's Day, May 11, 2025.

Bobbie had three great loves – her family, the performing arts and community service.

Her love for singing and performance bloomed early, by age 7 she was singing on WKY Radio and by the time she was a teen, performing five or more times a week with local dance bands and stage performances. During that era, she also won numerous awards and honors such as the national Columbia Records and Miss Maryland Club Coffee contests. In her late 30's, she played the lead in two Lyric Theater productions, Sweet Charity and Can Can.

From early on, Bobbie tirelessly promoted worthy causes including Jane Brooks School for the Deaf, United Appeal, Oklahoma City Charity Horse Show and what is now Kirkpatrick Science Museum.

Her most rewarding season of service began when she succeeded her father as president of the Burbridge Foundation in 1994. It was a regular event for central Oklahoma KTOK Radio listeners to hear Bobbie give out her 60 second radio thoughts with "Climb Every Mountain" playing in the background. Whatever the subject, from promoting healthy kids to the dangers of divorce, pornography and animal abuse, Bobbie let 'er rip. She launched and led a national anti-pornography campaign, founded her beloved Oklahoma Senior Follies and co-founded Salt and Light Leadership Training, Inc. here in OKC, better known as "SALLT."

The accolades throughout her life have been many and lovely, but the accolade she has now received is without compare – the crown of life from Jesus.

The family is deeply grateful to so many, including her longtime assistant, Linda Moberly. As well, her dear friends who have supported her over the last several years, such as Butch Barnett and most especially her best friend of 60 years, Yvonne Kauger. In addition, Brian Banks, Becky Rummage and the caretakers of Providence Home Health Care and most recently Derek and Calyn Jump and caretakers Brytnea, Shirley, and Linda of Living Dynasty Assisted Living.

She is survived by her children, Dianne Lane, Wes Lane and his wife, Lori; grandchildren, Molly Beffort Simes and her husband Sully, Derrick Haught and wife, Soniya; and great-grandchildren, Talia and Violet Haught.

A celebration of life service will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel, 3925 N. Asbury Avenue in Bethany on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 2:00pm.
