Bob 'Papa' Singley left us suddenly on September 14, 2008, to go to his Heavenly home. He was born in Elk City, Oklahoma on December 23, 1931, to Wesley Thomas and Doris Pauline (Calmes) Singley. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Paula, Aunt and Uncle Diane and Bunk Lowe and step-son Kris Friedel. He is survived by his wife Pat Singley, daughters and son-in-laws Dee and Jim Dinger, Lisa and Gary Roberts, Tracy and Mike Yarberry, and a special daughter-in-law Luann Friedel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Leah Roberts, Jarrod Friedel, Nicole and Izad Azadpour, Rachael DuVall and a great grandson, Alex Azadpour.
Bob graduated from Classen High School in 1951 and is an active member of their Alumni Association. He is also a member of The Boulevard Boys and The Christian Businessman Association. He spent all of his adult life in the electronics business, starting with Delaneys, then moving on to Trice Electrics, where he became Vice-President and General Manager for 25 years. After retiring from Trice he joined the Jasco Corporation for a few years and then started a company with Roger Williams and Ray Harvey, Dealer Sales Corporation.
Bob loved life, loved his family, loved his work and loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever his task was for the day, he witnessed for the Lord in some way.
His cabin retreat 'The Sanctuary' was his refuge; he felt very close to God there, he was relaxed and would sing praises and give thanks for all his blessings every day he was able to spend there. Wherever Bob was, if there was a garden hose close by, he was watering (even if it was raining). His family knows if there is a great garden in Heaven that will be his job. Wherever he went, if at all possible, he took all of his Brittany dogs, he loved to hunt them, work them, and train them. In the field, after hunting them and feeding them, he would have them all lie down to take a nap and he would use them as pillows for his nap. They will miss him greatly too.
If you had the privilege of being Bobs friend, you were never forgotten and a friend for life. Some of his favorite times were being with Pastor Jim McNabb on the golf course or on a fishing trip. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends on holidays and birthdays. We would like to list each friend by name to acknowledge how special you were to our husband, Dad and Papa, but there wouldnt be enough space in this announcement. Please accept our gratitude for all the laughs and great times you gave him in this life. We look forward to a great reunion in Heaven.
God never created a more loving, caring, kinder or generous man. Bob could recognize his childrens needs (or know their hearts desires) before they did, he was always there to help in time of emergencies, never turned away a stranger who asked for help, and knew the time to answer a call for any plea for aid. To all that knew him, he was truly a man of God.
In lieu of flowers, Bob would have asked donations be made to his current project in our church, The Bridge Assembly of God, Youth Camp Fund, P. O. Box 207, Mustang, OK 73064. Services will be Monday, September 22, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at The Bridge Assembly of God, Mustang, Oklahoma with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
