Blondina "Deana" Vaughn, 89, was born in Washington, Indiana on March 27, 1923. She died August 24, 2012 in Oklahoma City. Deana worked for many years as a leading salesperson in the Women's Department at Rothschild's Department Store at Penn Square. She later worked at Dillard's and retired in the early 90s. Deana was active in many organizations. Through the years she volunteered her time and talents to various community service groups. She was a member of the Oklahoma Hospitality Club and especially enjoyed working the Hospitality booth at the Oklahoma State Fair. She also served as a tour guide for the annual Tour of Homes. As a member of the Ladies of the Moose, she devoted many hours volunteering at the lodge cooking for Bingo nights, picnics, holiday dinners, and providing special treats for bake sales. Deana was everyone's favorite "dessert maker." She baked for numerous bake sales, children's fundraisers, and for people who were unable to leave their homes due to illness and just needed a "smiling face" to boost their spirits. More recently she enjoyed life to the fullest, participating in various activities. She will be greatly missed by the Tuesday senior bowling group, Wednesday and Thursday Bunco Babes, several bridge and canasta groups including her friends at the Sportsman's Club, as well as T.P.A. She loved to travel and enjoyed cruises. She was ready and willing to head to the nearest casino, and loved to go to the horse races. Deana was a charter member of Village Baptist Church. She is joyously received in heaven by her parents, Viola and Crysta Potts, husband Edward, and brother Udell. She is survived by her son, Dennis and his wife Jane of Oklahoma City, daughter Debbie Voegtle of Edmond, her son-in-law Jeff, her grandchildren Travis, Amy, Sarah, Beau and Alex, and her great-grandchildren Isaac, Tyler and Hunter, her niece Diane and nephew Robert, and her three precious 4-legged companions. Knowing Deana's commitment to serve her community and her desire to always help someone in need, donations can be made to local volunteer groups of your choice in her name. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 28, with the family in attendance from noon - 8 p.m. at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury, Bethany, Oklahoma. The funeral service will be held at Mercer-Adams Chapel on Wednesday, August 29 at 10:00 a.m., with interment at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
