Blaine Edward Escoe, 49, of Bethany, completed his work on Earth on April 10, 2013, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Blaine was born February 4, 1964, in Dallas, Texas, and was the son of Shirley (Champion) and Rodney Escoe. He was the youngest of five siblings. Blaine graduated from Putnam City West High School in 1982, where he played trumpet, and was a catcher for the Patriot baseball team. He knew from a young age that he wanted a career in the United States Air Force, and to that end, he attended Oklahoma University, and OU ROTC, graduating in 1987 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He received his commission and began his career as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He served twenty-two happy years in the military, moving all over the country, working first as a nuclear missilear and then as a contracting officer. He obtained his masters degree in Aerospace Science Technology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Blaine rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring, and then began his second career, also in contracting, with the United States Government at Tinker Air Force Base, where he continued to enjoy his work until his death. His family is immensely proud of his dedicated service to his country. In his free time, before illness, Blaine was an avid hunter and fisherman, a supporter of Ducks Unlimited, and greatly enjoyed being outdoors. He was happiest on the water with a fishing pole in hand, or in a duck blind with his dog. He was a faithful member of Bethany First Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed his Sunday mornings in service. He was a devout watcher of the Weather Channel, the History Channel, the Military Channel, and will be remembered in numerous military base offices across the country as the officer "who drank the most coffee of anyone there, hands-down". Most of all, though, Blaine prized his role as husband and father to his three children, Brayden, Kellen, and Kendrie, who he loved more than anything on earth. Blaine is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Kristie Escoe, and their three children. He is also survived by his father, Rodney Escoe, and his siblings: brother, Keith Sandefer, sister-in-law, Ann Sandefer, nephew, Quin Sandefer; sister, Lisa Zajic, niece, Paxton Spurgeon; sisters, Cay Kubin and Teresa Lloyd; his mother-in-law, Betty McClung, brother and sister-in-law, Cliff and Kelly Stout, and four nephews, Dalton, Landon, Lawson and Daxton Stout. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Escoe, and his father-in-law, Calvin McClung. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Mercer Adams Funeral Home in Bethany. Visiting hours will be Saturday and Sunday. Family will be attending visitation on Sunday from 2-4pm. Funeral will take place Monday, April 15, 2013 at Bethany First Church of the Nazarene at 10am. Interment will be at Bethany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center at PO Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 or online at www.mdanderson.org
