Birdie Mae Payne was born in Little Rock, AR on Nov. 5, 1927 to Walter Harvey and Annie Lou Brown Gunter. Never a procrastinator, she passed quickly into the arms of Jesus on March 27, 2017 in Miramar Beach, FL. A lifelong lover of Christ, she served her Lord and her churches, Bethany 1st Church of the Nazarene and Destiny Worship Center faithfully. As her granddaughter spoke of her, "Mema lived her life to pray for others, 'mow' her carpet and make sure everyones laundry was done!" Birdie was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Payne, brothers, Ewell and Ansel Gunter; and sister, Elsie Simpson. She is survived by her sister, Lucille Hudson; daughter, Nancy Jennings and son Matt; daughter, Betty and son-in-law Dunnie Emmert and their children Marti and husband Kaleb, Mickey and wife Nicole; her precious great-grandchildren, Blake Savanna, Nik, Klay, Jaxx and Zoey.
